How Much Will It Cost to Ship My Vehicle?
The cost to ship your vehicle will depend on whether it meets the definition of an “Automobile”, its registered weight, and the destination of the shipment. Young Brothers has three automobile rates based on the registered weight of the vehicle:
As stated in Tariff 5A, an “Automobile” is defined as:
- Any four-wheeled, rubber tired, self-propelled motor vehicle
- In operable condition designed for transport on public streets and highways
- Does not exceed 7 feet in height at the highest point
- Does not exceed 8 feet in width at the widest point
- Does not exceed 20 feet in length at the longest point
- Does not exceed 6,500 lbs
Automobiles are rated in three different sizes, according to weight:

| Medium | 2,501 – 4,000 lbs. |
| Large | 4,001 – 6,500 lbs. |
Vehicles exceeding any of these measurements or otherwise not fitting any part of the description above will be rated as Roll-On/Roll-Off Cargo (see below).
Discounted Roundtrip Return Rate
Within 30 days
In addition, Young Brothers has discounted Round Trip Return rates for vehicles returned to the port of origin within 30 days of availability at the port of destination. The shipper must provide the previous booking reference number as proof of the movement.

Vehicles traveling between the islands other than Honolulu (i.e. Kahului to Kawaihae) are considered “Tran-shipped Cargo” and are subject to an additional 25% freight cost as stated in Tariff 5-A.

Roll-On / Roll-Off Vehicles
Roll-On/Roll Off Cargo rates are based on a cubic foot measurement. Actual freight charges may be found in the Tariff 5-A. All cargo movements are additionally subject to tax, insurance, wharfage fee, or fuel adjustment (if any).
