The Foss Family of Companies

Young Brothers is an independent subsidiary of Foss Maritime Company. Foss Maritime Company provides comprehensive marine transportation and logistical services from local harbor services throughout North America and the Hawaiian islands, to ocean towing and project support in extreme environments throughout the world. Foss Maritime’s two Pacific Northwest shipyards in Seattle, Washington and Rainier, Oregon offer a wide range of services from naval architecture and marine engineering to vessel design, construction, and repair.

AMNAV Maritime Services is a tug and marine transportation company offering ship assist and offshore towing on the U.S. West coast.

Cook Inlet Tug & Barge provides ship assists services at the Port of Anchorage. They also offer construction support, offshore rig and other types of support.

The Saltchuk Family of Companies

Foss is wholly owned by Saltchuk Resources. Saltchuk Resources established Foss’ marine holding and support company – for investments in tug, barge, and ancillary marine services – in 2000. In 2013, Foss united Foss Maritime and many of its holdings under one united Foss brand.

Saltchuk is a privately owned family investment company formed in 1982 and based in the Pacific Northwest. Saltchuk has over $2 billion of assets invested in numerous operating companies in several different business groups, including deep water shipping logistics, ship management, tug and barge operations, fuel distribution, and trucking.

TOTE Maritime Alaska is the premier provider of ocean transportation services between the ports of Anchorage, Alaska and Tacoma, Washington. TOTE Maritime Alaska operates a fleet of (RO/RO) cargo ships in addition to providing overland highway and intermodal connections throughout greater Alaska, Canada and the Lower 48.

TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico provides common carrier service from the U.S. mainland to and from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico operates the first LNG-powered containerships in the world and provides regularly scheduled weekly service from to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and provides connecting service to St. Thomas and St. Croix.

TOTE Services provides leading edge ship management solutions, including full technical management and partial management/crewing services to affiliated ship owners, U.S. Government, domestic and international third-party ship owners.

Carlile Transportation is one of Alaska’s largest trucking companies. Carlile offers a wide range of transportation and logistics services primarily in Alaska from Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai, Kodiak, Prudhoe Bay and Seward. A fully integrated transportation and logistics company they also service Tacoma, WA, Houston, TX, Blaine, MN, Edmonton, AB, and can provide services in Hawaii and all of North America.


NorthStar Petroleum

Delta Western/Inlet Petroleum is the leading distributor of petroleum products and lubricants in Alaska and gasoline and diesel throughout the Alaskan Railbelt. It supports customers involved in oil exploration, trucking, food service, retail service stations and marine transportation industries. It also operates retail gas stations; delivers home heating fuel; and provides direct deliveries to remote Alaskan bush and coastal communities.

Hawaii Petroleum markets and distributes petroleum products and operates convenience stores through three subsidiaries in Hawaii: Ohana Fuels, HFN and Minit Stop.


Northern Aviation Services

Northern Air Cargo (NAC) and its subsidiary companies together can ship nearly any cargo by air in Alaska and throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and other places around the globe.

Aloha Air Cargo operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and carries diverse products throughout Hawaii.

Aloha Tech Ops (NAC) a division of Aloha Air Cargo, is the leading provider of aircraft maintenance and repair for commercial aircraft throughout Hawaii.


Interstate Distributor

Interstate Distributor is a local, regional and transcontinental full truckload carrier with specialized and refrigerated equipment, dedicated fleets, and intermodal and logistics management services.


Tropical Shipping

Tropical Shipping has been a leader in container and ocean transport services to the Bahamas and The Caribbean for more than 50 years.
